GUWAHATI: The naval wing of the National Cadet Corps is planning to undertake an expedition of the Brahmaputra River of the state in the month of November.
Lieutenant Commander Debanand Doley, Officer Commanding 48 Assam Naval Unit NCC, meet the Governor of Assam, Gulab Chand Kataria, to provide an overview of the various activities conducted by the naval wing NCC in Assam. The meeting also included a briefing on the upcoming 10-day long Sailing Expedition on River Brahmaputra, scheduled to take place in the first week of November.
The commanding office highlighted the significant initiatives undertaken by the 48 Assam Naval Unit NCC. These initiatives include numerous drills, training sessions, camps, and community service projects that have been successfully organized by the unit over the years. The Governor of Assam showed great interest in the activities of the naval wing NCC and commended the unit for its remarkable work in shaping young minds towards nation-building.
Meanwhile, Gulab Chand Kataria is on a two-day visit to Haflong on August 9 and August 10 for a review meeting with the departments as well as the council members. The Governor will hold the meeting at Circuit House, at Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, meeting the apex bodies etc. Later he will also attend a programme at Amphitheatre, District Library Auditorium.
On August 10, the Governor will unveil the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar in front of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council and also visit the Dilaobra Shangibra Samathuraoni Nohdrang construction site, Haflong Civil Hospital and Jatinga. People of Haflong in particular and of Dima Hasao in general are prepared to accord a rousing welcome to the Governor. People are of the opinion that the visit of the Governor will usher in a new form of development in the district. They also termed the Governor’s visit to Haflong as a boon for the people and the place.
